I like the old style blogger’s “Previous Posts” feature which will show the previous 5 posts. It is a great tool to browse a blog (lazily) – when you click on a post , the list will update and show the previous 5 posts from the archive.
After the New Blogger has arrived with widgets, you needed to build your “Recent Posts” to show them in your sidebar.
There are more complex javascript methods available but, I am going to show you a simple, killer hack – a quick fix.
Go to the Layout –> Page elements —> on the sidebar , click “Add page element” —>
Now you will get a new Choose a page element form , choose Feed –> click Add to Blog
Now, a “Configure Feed” dialog will be presented –> Specify

http://yourblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml
change yourblog.blogspot.com to your (BLOGGER) blog address.
When you hit Enter button, your recent posts will immediately show up.
Then, you have to specify how many items you would like to show —> Choose 5 as it is the maximum number of posts
Ensure do not tick the boxes to show date or author name
Item dates
Item sources/authors
Rename this widget as “Recent Post” or “Last 5 posts” and save it. Done!
Update: If you want to show “Recent Comments”, for feed URL, copy and paste this (change your blog url name)
http://yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/full
Now, you will get 5 recent comments instead of 5 recent posts.
You can also try the Recent Comments widget by Blogger Templates blog.
