5 Tricks for Getting success with StumbleUpon

You may have read my other post on Why StumbleUpon is the best tool for building traffic for your blogs. Now, I share 5 tips that may be useful to you for becoming a successful Stumbler.

1. Submit your blog posts
SU encourages you to submit your own articles / blog posts for SU users to review them. So, if you think your blog post is good and can be useful for others, then submit to SU.

2. Stumble Upon users seem to love photos
If you have taken some amazing photos, then post them as a collection and submit to StumbleUpon. If you are not a good photographer, then you can find some brilliant photos that are Creative commons licensed (Note if you can use it for commercial purposes) at the following sources. Strong caution: Always acknowledge the photographer, copyright owner

i. flickr creative commons search - only use this option if you want to use the flickr images on your blog. If you want to submit a flickr photo to StumbleUpon, then grab the photo url and do it.
ii. flickr free stock photo group - you are free to use the images but, read the terms.
iii. fotolia – free images offered by fotolia
iv. wikimedia - images and photos offered in public domain

3. Discover other stories as well
Do not submit only your articles (I did this mistake as a beginner). When you browse through web, if you find anything useful, submit to SU. You may find most of popular stories are already stumbled, before you do.

4. Look for something amusing
When I don’t find anything worthwhile, I dig down my inbox for any email forwards that contain images. When you are posting such an email always include a disclaimer saying ‘it is a forwarded email and the owner retains all the rights’.

5. Join in SU groups
If you have a specific interest or a hobby, you may find a Stumble Upon group dedicated to it. Join them and when you submit an article that is of interest to your group, it is bound to make the front page of the group’s top stumbles easily.

Enjoy stumbling.
