How to set Goals and Achieve them in Life

10 December 2008 2 Comments

You know something magical occurs when you simply write down your goals and aspirations on a paper. Identifying what aspects are most important to you and deciding what you want to achieve is the task you need to work on for planning in life.

• Firstly, it gives you a kind of focus and concentration into your world which has become complicated because of many options available out now.

• In today’s world there are so many things to do at any time. Indirectly there are too many diversions and distractions that deviate your attention.

• Goals clarify as they clearly present our needs, wants and desires in doing so, they help us to focus only on those activities that will lead us to what we want.

• Setting clearly defined goals provide you with a framework kind of a thing for smart choices. It becomes surprisingly easier to select those that will get you there exactly.

• Writing down your goals shows your intentions.

So how to identify your goals ?

• The first step to realize your vision is defining it. Sounds good and it is proven to be best way of doing it.

• If you realize your goals and aspirations then your plan towards them will take all the worries from your living. If they interrupt you can counter them since you know that you are going in the right way.

• While setting your Goals never effect your decision by comparing with others or being indifferent to your personal interests. E.g : Trying to learn something that is in demand for a while but not of your interest. This is an early sign of deviation that drives you away from them.

• Goals are those that you feel to be the permanent solution to your life.

• Aspirations are those that you must feel as to be achieved. To be simple its all about your interests mostly in your domain. Without these you feel your life to be incomplete. Now it would be easy to realize them.

How to accomplish ?

• Discipline is the virtue that attracts your mind to stay focused. It results in dedication that makes you more productive. So you progress towards your destiny.

• Never stop trying , the moment you stop doing it then it implies that you are accepting the failure. Keep trying to find new opportunities until you find what you want.

• Everyday must be a learning experience.

• Seize the opportunity when arrived and stay awake always if you want to create personal and professional life you desired.

• Approach step by step –
A big leap or jump to growth is good but not always since you might fall as quick as you climbed. So it is more prescribed if you try to grow step by step to finally reach your goal instead trying shortcuts. There are no shortcuts for bigger goals. If you want to fulfill your dream then proceed in small steps initially and once you gain confidence and support make bigger leaps.

● Great power brings great responsibility and you must be ready to even take it as you grow.

• Emotions are those that might make you to tend towards wrong decisions in your career or life so keep then in control. See that these emotions do not make a negative impact on your career.

• Patience pays, yes that is true, but it takes time. You must consider them as testing times and keep going forward with flow.

• Finally, you need to set the course of action. It makes things happen in your life rather than waiting for opportunities to land which never happens. Select goals that motivate you and boost the level of your energy. So it is always better if you set bigger goals.

In order to be successful in life and for happiness that lasts for ever it is important to know your long term goals and aspirations are. Set the short term goals like to be achieved in a month or two, medium term goals to be achieved in this year and long term goals to be met in next 3-5 years. This helps to monitor your progress and check whether you are going at a right speed and doing it in time.

This is hard to read this website (although all things to do online listed here are cool). I would recommend to redesign the site completely. Keep the cool content to top of the page and google ads at the side or bottom.

If you’d like a tool for setting your goals, you can use this web application:

    http://www.Gtdagenda.com

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A mobile version is available too.
