5 Tips for writing Thank-You notes
So, why should you thank someone who let you stay in his home or why should thank someone who bought a book and sent you? Thanking is a way to let people that you appreciate them for doing a thing. You need to let know people how you felt because of their act and this will encourage the people to do more good things for you. Thank you notes always make the receiver happy and you will also feel happy for writing one. Saying a short Thank you message or hand-writing one is a good habit that cultivates kindness.
1. When should you write a Thank You note?
Always. Write a Thank You note, whenever you want to appreciate a small act of kindness or help that you received. For every occasion, you can write a small Thank You note and if you are in doubt, please write one. Say and write “Thank You” more often.
2. Write a personal note
Don’t just buy a Thank You card, sign and send it. Instead, take a small piece of paper and write a personal note to the person you are thanking. Say a short note, but don’t stop with ‘Thank you for your help’. Write how you really felt when you received the help, and how will you use a gift (money) that you received.
3. Write with your hand-writing
You can type an SMS or send a quick email but, a hand-written “Thank You” note is always very special. If you can, write a personalised note, scan it and send it.
4. Be courteous and kind
Even if you don’t like a gift you have received, just write you are happy that the person remembered you and sent you the gift. You do want to encourage people those who are helping you. If you stayed at your friend’s home, write the extra care you received and how happy and safe you felt staying at their home.
5. Write immediately
If you think about writing a Thank You note after few days, you may forget it. Or it could be less relevant. So, as soon as possible , write and post a Thank You note.
